Sony Xperia 1 II: planned model launch date

The first market to receive Sony's new flagship will be Japan, but nothing is known for the rest of the world

Sony's new flagship Xperia is expected, and for the many wrongs. The company is not doing very well on the smartphone front so the success of the Xperia 1 II will heavily influence the future trend of the brand in this market. In any case, here is that the launch date for Japan has been scheduled. It will be held on May 22nd and the cost is already known.

The price of the model is known, although it is a simple conversion. So we are faced with the first rock that most likely has already put a tombstone on the device. The original price is 133,600 JPY which when converted into EUR becomes 1,145; considering that there are also no taxes, it is already too much.

Sony Xperia 1 II: a disaster announced?

In terms of specifications, there is not much to say. It will be powered no less than by Qualcomm's top-of-the-range processor, the Snapdragon 865. This already indicates that it will be a powerful device, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM.

The display continues to show the format of the previous model, 21: 9. It is a 6.5-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 3,840 x 1,644 pixels. The battery will be 4,000 mAh with 21W fast charging technology. The rear photographic compartment consists of a triptych of 12 MP sensors, a wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle and a telephoto lens. The front one will be 8 MP.

Even the fact that a possible launch date for the global market is unknown is a symptom that Sony has something drastic in mind for the smartphone brand. As we have said, the success of this device is crucial, but with such a cost it is difficult to think that it will succeed in attracting a large portion of the public.
